Modern Investigative Techniques and the Search for Seth Rich's Killer.
Americans everywhere are going online to dig around for newspaper articles about the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich. This process will inevitably lead one to an endless sea of speculation mixed with very few facts. The evidence seems to be meandering around the possibility that Seth Rich may have leaked sensitive DNC documents to Wikileaks. If that's true, the list of murder suspects is extensive. The Seth Rich story might never be devoid of wild speculations. But, it certainly seems possible to write an article that is.
In the weeks leading up to Seth Rich's death, the nation was enthralled in the race between Clinton and Trump. A lobbyist and political adviser named Jack Burkman would later become a key figure in this murder mystery. But, in June of 2016 Mr. Burkman was just a lobbyist hosting a fundraising event called "Lobbyist for Trump". One month later, he would help raise money for the anti Trump "Free The Delegates" effort. That same month, on July 10, 2016 Seth Rich was shot in the back.
Roughly twelve days after the murder on July 22, 2016 Wikileaks released thousands of sensitive DNC emails. The leak was devastating to Hillary Clinton's campaign. Many believe it contributed to the election victory of Donald Trump. But, at the time, nobody knew exactly who the leaked documents came from.
On May 16, 2017 nearly one year after the murder, Fox News made claims of the existence of FBI evidence proving that the leaked documents came from murder victim and ardent Bernie Sanders supporter Seth Rich. They were later forced to retract the statement. But, on May 17, 2017, the day after the discredited Fox News story, the now famous special council Robert Mueller was appointed. He began investigating the possibility that Trump may have conspired with Russian officials to leak the documents. Each side now blames the other for the leaked documents.
I began this story with the introduction of a man named Jack Burkman. At the time of the murder he was a relatively obscure lobbyist and political adviser. But, by August 14, 2017, he was the director of the independent non partisan group called The Profiling Project or TPP for short. At this point the Mueller investigation had been focusing on the Trump Russia connection for months. But, Mr. Burkman made headlines by urging the special council to consider murder victim Seth Rich as a potential source for the leaked documents.
As of this articles publication date, that's pretty much where the story ends. It ends with more questions than answers.
